As we close out 2025, it feels like the right moment to look ahead as much as reflect back. The past year has marked a shift in how general practice works, with contract changes, increased demand and rising expectations for digital-first access reshaping day to day care. Practices have adapted quickly, finding ways to protect time, support teams and maintain continuity for patients.
Behind the scenes, Accurx has continued to invest heavily in supporting primary care teams. As part of a wide range of improvements delivered across Accurx in 2025, we launched Accurx Scribe, powered by Tandem, which has already summarised more than one million consultations across nearly 3,000 practices, helping teams reduce documentation time and maintain clearer clinical records.

We have also supported the continued expansion of total triage through our Total Triage Readiness Programme, with 1,350 practices now operating a total triage model using Accurx. These practices report greater control over demand, fewer avoidable appointments, and calmer, more sustainable working environments.
“It’s been a pleasure to partner with the Accurx support programme to help more practices implement Modern General Practice. Together, we’ve supported improvements in patient and staff experience, strengthened continuity of care, and embedded more sustainable ways of working. By bringing together digital, transformation and peer expertise, the partnership has enabled meaningful change. We’re incredibly proud of what practices have achieved through the programme and it’s inspiring to see them already sharing data and stories that demonstrate real benefits.” - NHS England
We also launched Navigator as a feature within Patient Triage, now used by more than 800 practices, which helps surgeries redirect requests to suitable national self care and self referral pathways before patients reach the practice.
As we move into 2026, we are building on this momentum and looking forward to driving more change in general practice in the new year.
What we’re closing 2025 off with:
Optimisations to patient triage
To support practices in meeting the GP Contract commitments, we have recently introduced a number of improvements to give your practice greater flexibility in managing inbound demand. On our patient triage forms, clinical and administrative opening hours can now be configured separately, allowing you to tailor access for different types of requests. You can also choose to switch the routine care request form on or off so it aligns with how your practice operates.
Looking ahead
This is only the start. As we head into 2026, here are some of the developments we are most excited to bring to you.
Notes that sound more like you
We’ve focused on making the default summaries in Accurx Scribe as accurate as possible, but we know it can feel odd if they’re not in the format you usually use. In the new year you’ll be able to Scribe notes ‘as you would type them’. From January you’ll be able to create templates with the structure you prefer your notes to be in, and configure your ideal writing preferences. We’ll also automatically learn from the edits you make, and use them to tweak future notes we generate.

Seamless communication
This is the area we’re most excited about. General practice has been transformed by the ability to type and send a message to a patient in just two clicks. But what if you did not have to type it at all? What if any message could be generated automatically so that your questionnaires or booking links are ready to send at the click of a button. What if patients left every appointment with a clear summary of the consultation and what to do next? That is what we will be building next year.
In early 2026, you will also be able to send documents generated in Scribe to reception staff for onward actioning (e.g. for sending via e-RS) in one easy click, helping to support your existing referral workflows.
Strengthening coding in Scribe
We launched Scribe with the ability to code a focused set of clinical observations, such as blood pressure. While this is helpful, you’ve still had to manually add other codes. We're now looking into automatically suggesting other relevant codes, which you'll be able to add to your note before saving them to the record. We're also working on enabling you to add codes to the problem list or link your Scribe to an existing problem. With a seamless integration these improvements will save you time and improve the quality of your records.
A smarter triage journey
For practices using our patient triage forms, we are developing clearer ways to surface the most important details the moment a request arrives. We want to reduce the back and forth by gathering more information up front, such as automatically asking for photos for skin concerns, attachments for administrative requests and answers to condition-specific questions. We are also exploring better ways to organise and route requests, with smarter sorting & filtering, request topics for information at a glance, and clearer views for both administrative and clinical teams. The aim is a calmer, faster and more predictable triage experience for staff and patients, with clinicians always guiding the decisions.

Neighbourhood Working
Neighbourhood working is a growing priority across the NHS, set out clearly in both the Ten and Medium Term Plan. Alongside PCN colleagues, community services, pharmacies and local teams, GP practices play a vital role in coordinating care at neighbourhood level. We’re developing a neighbourhood model to support this reality by helping teams to work across organisational boundaries, manage a shared cohort of patients, and coordinate their care as one team.
Neighbourhood working will fit seamlessly within the Accurx inbox you already use, enabling practices and neighbourhood teams to work together around the needs of their residents without switching systems or duplicating work. Over the next six months, we will pilot this approach in selected neighbourhoods across England before launching nationally.
Please get in touch via partnerships@accurx.com if your neighbourhood is interested in participating in the pilots and read more about our vision here.
This has been a transformational year. Launching Scribe and supporting practices through contract changes were major milestones, made possible by your trust and your feedback. There is still much to do, and we are committed to making the next stage even more impactful for clinicians and patients.
As always, please keep the feedback coming - whether through our support team, our user whatsapp group, or just by replying to this email.
Wishing you a restful break,
The Accurx Team
